Granny’s Fried Okra
1 ½ to 1 ¾ lbs. Okra
3 quarts of water
3/4 cup of salt
Cornmeal
Granny’s Bacon Drippings
Servings: about 8 to 10
Cut off tip and stem ends after washing the Okra thoroughly, cut into ½ inch slices.
Combine Water and Salt; pour over Okra and let the Okra brine for about 30 minutes; drain, rinse well, and drain again.
Coat the Okra in cornmeal; heat Granny’s Bacon Drippings until hot; fry Okra in Granny’s Bacon Drippings until golden brown.
Drain Fried Okra on paper towels.
